About Us

BEING LUMINARY BEGAN WORKING WITH CLIENTS IN THE CHARITIES AND STATE-FUNDED SECTORS IN 2019.

What typified the leaders we worked with when we started out was that they were forward-thinking, passionate about equity and diversity, and they wanted to create a sense of belonging in their organisation but didn’t know where to start.

As the events of 2020 took hold, casting an intense spotlight on structural, systemic and institutional inequality, our clients diversified.

Now leaders were coming to us and saying that they wanted to initiate wholesale changes in the way that diversity was sought and understood, they wanted a challenge, but they also needed support; these leaders were ready to shine a light on all the things in the organisation that were not enabling them to meet their aspirations for being luminary.

Since then, we have seen ever more ambitious leaders come our way. What they need more than anything is to find a way of keeping their focus on DEI as a high priority while managing other organisational challenges. These leaders are seeking pragmatic solutions that make sense in the context of busy, time-poor and resource-conscious environments, but they also want to explore this work with humility, courage and curiosity, and they know this requires deep learning and steadfast commitment.

The Founder

Being Luminary is led by Angie Browne, an experienced former Headteacher and Executive Leader.

Angie has decades of experience leading diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and strategies. She marries this experience with her profound belief that organisations must be safe harbours for every single member of the community and her belief that people and communities can be luminary.
